2008 Newspaper awards recognition

This year’s Newspaper Awards held on Tuesday 22 April at The London Hilton, the quality of two products coming off Mortons presses was recognised:
Oink! – Business newspaper for children - was 'Highly Commended' in the The Fujifilm Grand Prix category for the most significant contribution to future newspaper success; and The Irish Post was 'Commended' in the Weekly Newspaper of the Year category.
The newspaper awards were held on Tuesday 22 April 2008, at the London Hilton, Park Lane, London.

£3 million extension to MAN Uniset Press completes another milestone
20 March 2008
The Press and Mailroom is nearing completion, with the second MAN folder, Ferag StreamStitch, Stackers and extended gripper line all in position. The second DAN Palletiser has also been commissioned and is working hard.
The MAN and Ferag installation teams are taking a well-earned break over Easter, but on their return the commissioning and staff-training will commence on the additional equipment. The first printed papers are scheduled to be rolling off the MAN folder by the end of the March and with for both Ferag Stacker lines running in tandem by April 14.

£3 million extension to MAN Uniset Press running to schedule

Work on the £3 million extension to our MAN Uniset Press and Ferag Mailroom equipment is all running to schedule.
The second folder, mirroring the existing one with quarterfold and stitching facilities, is due to be running before the end of March.
Ferag are still in the process of installing the new StreamStitch along with additional gripper line, pick-up stations and stackers; this work is expected to be complete by the beginning of May.
A second DAN Palletiser has also been purchased and will be connected to the new stacker lines
at the beginning of March.

After a successful secondment, Mark Armstrong has taken on the new role of Technical Support Manager within Mortons Print Ltd.
Based in the Salesroom, Mark will be focusing more of his time intosupporting both Sales and Production in servicing new and existing customers.
Mark is also taking a leading role in developing our page turning software.

Dave Bell has taken over the management of the Pre-press Department and is working hard trying to integrate the traditional platemaking and outputting teams along with improving the workflow through the department.
Mortons Print Golf Day 2007
Friday 11th May saw the staging of the 10th Mortons Print Customer and Supplier Golf Day. The Newark course was splendid as the competitors did battle and despite the odd shower the sun eventually shone as supplier Wayne Sandiland pipped host accountant David Bird for the major honour.
Leading customer went to Allister Brown while Norman Revill from MAN Roland picked up the much valued Supplier’s prize. The Barry Leatherland Memorial Trophy for the highest scoring ‘hacker’ (20-36 handicap) was won by David Bird.

Mortons Print Ltd – Recognised for satisfying customer needs

Mortons Print, along with two of their print customers, were nominated in four categories at the 2007 Newspaper Awards. We are happy to announce that we were highly commended as Newspaper Printer of The Year. Although tinged with disappointment that we failed to lift the top honour, finishing second to the Guardian Print Centre in London is a remarkable achievement for the management and staff of Mortons Print. The judges, in their comments, spoke of the obvious satisfaction of Mortons print customers. The awards ceremony was compered by Rob Brydon at the Hilton, Park Lane.
MORTONS SCOOP GOSS AWARD FOR SECOND YEAR RUNNING

For the second year in succession Mortons Print Ltd collected the Special Achievement Trophy at the Goss Single Awards on Sunday evening.
This year we won the award with the weekly Japanese title Bayspo.
The judges were impressed with the overall quality of the product, particular mention was made to both the registration and consistent inking throughout the 20 page full colour product.

The Lincolnshire Mailing Company (www.lincolnshiremailing.co.uk) now has even closer ties with Mortons Print Ltd. The company which offers a “complete mailing fulfillment package” now occupies a four-unit block on the Morton site next door to the main press hall.
