Mortons Golf Day 2012
Friday 11th May 2012 saw the staging of the 13th annual Mortons Print Golf Day, held at the Forest Pines Hotel and Golf Club.
On a chilly, overcast spring day, the quality of the course despite a month of torrential rain was a credit to the hard work of the green staff and the quality of the drainage.
Playing the Forest and Beeches using the Stableford scoring, some of the golf on display was a credit to the players, some of whom came in with under par scores.
Prizes for nearest the pin went to Vince Hogan fromOur Dogs and the longest drive to Nik Evans of Barrelfield Media. Third place went to Stuart Cook, representing Holderness Newspapers; Runner-up was Toby Thorne, from the EGU, while the champion golfer for 2012 went to Richard Clayton from the Hull Daily Mail, who scored an impressive 41pts.
The leading staff member and winner of the Barry Leatherland Memorial Trophy went to Dean Wilkinson for the second time in three years. The day was rounded off with a lunch and prize giving ceremony. Hopefully we will see you all in 2013.
