Newsquest Media Group has made to senior appointments to its recently launched Sales Academy.

The Academy, based in Southampton, has been established as a centre of excellence for the training and development of Newsquest’s 1,200 sales staff.

Steve Tinniswood, head of sales development at Newsquest, said: “Our objective is for Newsquest to be the clear leader in local media sales in the UK.

As part of the development of the new sales excellence academy, we have been reviewing all aspects of how we train and develop our sales teams.

“As a result, two new roles will be created which will focus on the key areas of sales management training and digital training and I’m delighted to announce these two key appointments.”

Kieran O’Mahoney will be joining Newsquest on June 1 as head of sales management training. Kieran has a strong commercial and training background and has worked previously at the Telegraph Media Group and Guardian Media Group.  He has recently been working at an email marketing company in Brighton.

Richard Saltmarsh will be joining the team on July 6 as head of digital training.  Richard has worked at Trinity Mirror for the last 5 years and has held a number of roles including digital business development manager, digital sales trainer and latterly senior commercial trainer.
