Alan Woods, the current news editor of the Brentwood Gazette, has been promoted to editor at the Local World title.

Mr Woods learned his trade as a reporter on the News Shopper titles in South London, working his way up to deputy news editor, before joining theBrentwood Gazette in November 2013.

He said: “I’m really excited to lead the Gazette team at such an important time for Brentwood.
