Johnston Press today announces its online entertainments platform,, has exceeded one million unique users for the first time, reaching 1,035,753 in July 2015, six months ahead of target.

This impressive milestone comes less than three months after the brand’s new, fully-responsive website – which features interviews, blogs, reviews, galleries and competitions provided by a network of ‘City Editors’ across key UK cities – was unveiled at the end of May. Since then, the site has enjoyed a 177% increase in unique users (up from 373,297 in May), highlighting the strength of, and demand for, its vibrant, city-focused content.

Following the launch of WOW247 in 2012, Johnston Press has continued to develop the dynamic brand – most recently with a refreshed look for the site to appeal to its young, urbanite audience. Updates were made to the navigation and user experience, and new city-specific content was introduced, written by a network of bloggers across key cities, covering everything from where to eat, to films, music and gaming.

“We’re thrilled with the growth of WOW247, and it looks like we’re on track for this to continue in August. It’s such an exciting platform, and its success is testament to the unparalleled quality of the up-to-the-minute, city-centric material provided by our network of bloggers. Our contributors have first-hand expertise within their local area, giving users the inside scoop on the different things happening in their city,” said Steven Thomas, general manager of WOW247.
