Johnston Press has grown its digital audience by 26% year on year.

Audited figures for the first half of 2015, released today by ABC, reveal that 19.6m browsers visit the local publisher’s websites each month, up from 15.5m against the same period last year.

The figures also show impressive growth of some of the group’s daily title websites, including thestar.co.uk (The Star, Sheffield), which is up 40% year on year,sunderlandecho.com up 36%, Portsmouth.co.uk (The News, Portsmouth) up 21.5% and lep.co.uk (Lancashire Evening Post) up 26%.

Both thestar.co.uk and yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk now average more than a million visitors each month.

The Scotsman remains the group’s biggest online title, with an audience of over 2m unique browsers each month. Historically, Scotsman.com figures have also included those from the Edinburgh Evening News’ website. Those are now being measured separately.

Total monthly audience figures – those of print and digital combined – now stand at almost 30m across the portfolio.
