Friday 17th May 2013 witnessed the 14th annual Mortons Golf Day, held at the Forest Pines Hotel and Golf Spa.

Playing over the Forest and Pines layouts on a warm overcast day, the golf course proved very challenging. In fabulous condition given the extremes of a very dry spell followed by days of rain and sun, it was a credit to the green keeping staff, although the greens were not up to their usual speed and left many scratching their heads.

It was the regular golfers who mastered the scoring with Bryan Read in third place, Ken Calderwood (Local World) in second, missing out on a countback to this year’s champion Nik Evans from Barrelfield Media.

Nearest the pin was won by Mick Woods (Yorkshire Golfer) while the longest drive went to Mike Pennington of the Hull Daily Mail.

The winner of the Barry Leatherland Memorial trophy, for the winning Mortons staff player went to Steve Scott.

03Following an excellent lunch Ian Fisher thanked all for their attendance and for supporting the event and looked forward to seeing everyone once again in 2014.
