French Property News, Archant Lifestyle’s market-leading magazine focusing on homes across the Channel, has just celebrated 25 years in print. The special anniversary issue featured a silver cover, four pages of giveaways, a trip down memory lane and a round-up of the FPN team’s 25 hotspots across France.
The magazine started out as a black and white newspaper in 1989. “A small bedroom at home served as an office,” remembers FPN founder Dick Schrader. “We put adverts in all the national newspapers and very soon we were receiving 2,000 requests a month. Every evening we’d be typing up address labels and sticking them onto the manually rolled-up newspapers!”

French Property News has come a long way since then, accompanied by the highly successful French Property Exhibitions and property portal FrancePropertyShop.com. Editor Karen Tait has been at the helm for the past 13 years.

“I can honestly say it’s been a joy working on FPN,” she said. “I have loved working with the endlessly interesting people who make up the readers and advertisers – and the FPN team of course.” A team which includes longstanding members Sue Crwys-Williams, group sales manager, and Vicky Leigh, deputy editor, who have been with the title nine and six years respectively.

“Our relationship with FPN has lasted as they have always delivered good clients to us over the years and the staff have always been very helpful,” commented Gary Burke of Burke Removals, who has been advertising with the magazine and exhibiting from the beginning. “Our common interest in France and its lifestyle has brought us all together.”

With the French property market picking up, the signs are good for the future too. Furthermore, FPN’s sister magazines Living France and France Magazine are both celebrating their 25th anniversaries in the coming year too, making Archant’s France business even more of a force to be reckoned with within the market.
“French Property News has been the magazine for anyone looking for a French property over the last 25 years,” said Mark Wright, managing director of Archant Specialist. “The team has worked tirelessly in producing a top quality brand that has grown from strength to strength and is highly regarded by both our readers and our commercial partners. We look forward to many exciting years to come.”
